Monday 11th February 2019

The children will be involved in making biscuit’s and a card for Valentines day.

We are asking parents/carers if they have any old saucepans or frying pans they no longer need and also wooden and metal spoons. We would like to make a music wall in our outside area so children can experience musical percussion.

Friday 15th February we are holding a parents morning by appointment only. This is for parents of children who have had a focus week this ½ term. The appointments will be for ten minutes and will be an opportunity for your child’s key worker to share and discuss the children’s next steps – PLODS (possible lines of development). If your child has not yet had their focus week there will be another parent’s morning Friday 5th March before we finish for Easter.
If your child has just joined or re-joined us at the nursery, this parent’s morning is also available for you, to receive an update or a two year progress check on how your child has settled with us with your key worker.

The appointment sheet will be in the foyer, please select your time slot. Thank you.

Wednesday 13th February at 7.00pm  there will be a committee meeting. Please come along and join us, speak to Christine or Sue for the venue.

Next week we will be closed for half term, we hope you all have a lovely break, from all the nursery team.

Monday 4th February 2019

This week we will be celebrating Chinese New Year and tasting noodles. The children will have the opportunity to make a Chinese drum.

Monday 28th January 2019

We are looking forward to receiving your completed ‘bird counting sheets’. We will be compiling all the results together and the children will visually see a tally result sheet.

The children will be making binoculars this week and we will be going for a woodland walk to look for birds. Thank you for all your donated cardboard tubes we would still like more (please no toilet rolls thank you, for hygiene purposes).

 


Monday 21st January 2019

For the next two weeks our topic with the children, will be covering the RSPB Big garden bird watch. We are sending out the attached ‘bird counting sheet’ for you to complete at home, along with a bird feeder recipe.

Could you please return your completed bird counting sheet the week commencing 28th January 2019 so we can send off the results to RSPB.
Thank you and we look forward to seeing your results and sharing them with the children.

Our story this week will be ‘Owl babies’ and we will be making bird feeders with the children.


Monday 14th January 2019

This week we will be reading the story of ‘The room on the Broom’ and from the story making wands. Also making ginger bread biscuits, both of these interests have come from children within the setting.

Just a reminder to return your funding form next week Monday 21st January, thank you.

If you have any kitchen towel rolls, please could bring them into nursery next week as we are making binoculars for our bird watching.


Monday 7th January 2019

Welcome back everyone, we hope you all had a restful Christmas break. We would like to wish all our existing families and new families a Happy New Year.
We will settling children and welcoming new ones into our nursery routines this week.

Monday 17th December 2018

This is our last two days of nursery this week and we will be finishing off our Christmas activities with the children.

Thank you to everyone who helped make our Christmas Workshop such a success, we raised an amazing £140. Everyone enjoyed themselves and we had some lovely feedback from parents and this is much appreciated.

All staff would like to wish all our lovely families a Very Merry Christmas and we look forward to hearing all your lovely news in the New Year.

First day of Spring term: Thursday 3rd January 2019.


Monday 10th December 2018

This week we will be continuing our Christmas activities and the children will be making reindeer headbands.

Our Christmas Nativity went well and all children who took part did brilliantly. Thank you to everyone who battled the weather to come out and support us. The Nativity raffle raised £260 and donations raised from refreshments were £50 and will be donated towards Norwich neo-natal unit.

Forth coming event:
The committee are running a Christmas Workshop, Friday 14th December 10.00 – 12.00, admission fee £3.00 per child.

We look forward to seeing you there.

Monday 3rd November 2018

This week the children will be completing their Christmas card. They will also be decorating their stars.

Thank you to the parents who supported our library and rhyme time visit with Zara. We will arrange another visit in forth coming year so watch this space.

Monday 29th October 2018

We will be starting the first part of this week covering Halloween with spooky activities and pumpkins.

Our library visit for story and rhythm time has changed; the new date is booked for Wednesday 28th November at 1.30. We hope to see you at Stimpsons Piece for this event.

Within our autumn theme the children will be continuing to make their autumn crowns.

The children enjoyed our autumn walks last week, collecting leaves, conkers and sticks. Hopefully parents have enjoyed seeing the pictures uploaded onto Tapestry.

Please can I remind some parents to activate their Tapestry account, you will receive an email and will need to log in. If you have not received your email please speak to Christine.

We have a committee meeting on Tuesday 16th Oct in the evening, please come along and support your nursery. Please ask for location details and time.

Continuing with our Autumn theme.
The children will be involved in an Autumn walk this week, giving them opportunities to explore and discover.

Week Commencing – Monday 1st October 2018

Our Topic of Autumn will see opportunities for the children to be involved in leaf rubbing and leaf printing. They will also be able explore conkers and acorns and discussions around what animals eat these.

Thank you to all our parents for returning funding and consent forms for Tapestry. Hopefully when you activate your account; you will begin to see observations of your child since they have started the new term with us. Please feel free to upload any photos or comments of your own; we would love to see them.

We will shortly be sending out our Autumn newsletter, please take the time to read it and note down any forthcoming dates.

Our theme is Autumn/settling this half term.

The children will be offered opportunities to make crowns, potato printing and sampling a selection of vegetables.

Please could we ask parents/carers to return any outstanding funding forms and consent forms for Tapestry ASAP.

We will be covering the topic of ‘All about Me’ to start the term.

Thank you to all parents that have taken the time to return your holiday news letters from home, with some amazing photos attached. This will be a starting point for discussion this week with the children.

Our first full week will be a settling week and we would like to welcome all our new children starting with us.

Week commencing – Monday 25th June 2018

Well done to all the children who took part in our Sports day, you all participated brilliantly. The weather was perfect for us and it was lovely to see so many families come and support us and the children.

Thank you to the committee for supplying the raffle prizes. To Sue for supplying the lollies on the day and finally to the Spar shop in Reepham for donating water bottles and stickers.

For the next two weeks we will be following the theme of ‘Traditional tales’. We will begin with the ‘Three Billy goats gruff’ and the children will be involved in making puppet characters to act out the story.

Parents of children, who are transitioning onto school this year, please remember to book your transition meeting with your child’s key worker. The dates are for Tuesday 26th June and Friday 29th June. Please speak to Christine or Sue for further details.

Our first week back into nursery will covering the topic of bugs and insects; the children will have the opportunity to make caterpillar and butterfly pictures. Whilst being linked to the story “The Very Hungry Caterpillar”.

We will continue practicing our sport day races for our forth coming event on Friday 25th May. All children are doing brilliantly and really enjoying themselves.

The children will be involved in making their own medals and science investigations.

 


Week commencing – Monday 14th May 2018

This week we will begin to practice our sport day races for our forth coming event, letter to parents will be sent out shortly.

This week the children will be introduced to dough gym to help practice those small and gross motor skills and hand and eye co-ordination.

The children will be able to make crowns or tiaras to celebrate the forth coming Royal wedding.


 

Week commencing – Tuesday 8th May 2018

The children will continue with their planting this week and plant sunflower seeds, we would love to see your photos of them in flower. We also will be covering families and how important they are to us. This will follow through next week as we cover family celebrations e.g. the royal wedding.

Please could parents apply sunscreen to their children before they attend nursery. And provide sunscreen in their bag if they attend all day as staff can then reapply after lunch. Also could we ask for named sun hats and to consider clothing such as t-shirts with sleeves that covers the delicate shoulders as these areas are particularly vulnerable when children play outside in the strong sun.

Lastly we would like to offer the children as much water play outside on a daily basis and we would ask parents to please supply extra clothes so we can change them out of their wet things, thank you for your cooperation.

This week the children will be involved in planting, so please be prepared to nurture their seeds and if you take any photos of the end results we would love to see them.

Welcome back; hope everyone managed to stay safe in the snowy weather.

This week we will be covering Mother’s day activities with the children.

                Week commencing – Monday 26th February 2018

This week we are celebrating World book day, which is Thursday 1st March. Please feel free to let your child dress up in their favourite costume if they wish too on this day. Some parents have put their name down to attend our ‘Stay and share’ session which is running through this week. This opportunity is to share a favourite book with your child in session between 9.30 – 10.30. It’s not too late to put your name down, please just speak to a member of the team.

This week the children will make jungle animal books and make binoculars for exploring with. (If parents have any spare kitchen rolls they could donate for our activity, this would be much appreciated)

Please could we highlight to parents the need for warm clothes this week for the children attending nursery. As I am sure you are aware we are forecast quite extreme drop in temperatures this week. In the most unfortunate event of the building not being heated to constant 16 degrees, we may have to inform parents of the nursery closing and you will be contacted to collect your child. Please refer to our Emergency closure policy.


 

                          Week commencing – Monday 19th February 2018

First of all the staff would like to say a big thank you to one of our parents who kindly came and shared their midwifery profession with the children. They were really fascinated in listening to a recorded babies’ heartbeat and measuring the circumference of a doll’s head. As well as being shown how to change a nappy and bath a dolly in the bath.


                         Hope you all had a lovely relaxing half term break.

Our 2nd Half of Spring term will commence with the celebration of Chinese New Year which is the year of the dog.

The children will experience the formation of Chinese writing in comparison to ours. They will also have the opportunity to taste noodles and fortune cookies.

There is still time to share your profession with the children; this could be – a vet; doctor; nurse/midwife; fireperson; shopkeeper; police officer of course the list is endless.

This week we will be covering vets and caring for animals. There will be a vets shop in the role play area with all the play equipment needed to care for our soft toy animals.

We will have another visit from Michelle’s rabbits to see how much they have grown.

Thank you for all the support from everyone for our Christmas nativity.
The children were brilliant and we are all very proud of them.

Children’s Christmas party Tuesday 19th December all children are invited.
Children who normally attend on Tuesday, please could parents supply a packed lunch. Children that do not normally attend please arrive at 1.30 pm having had lunch at home.

Please could parents’ inform the staff if their child is upset in the presence of Father Christmas.

With Christmas approaching fast we will be starting our Christmas activities.
This week we will be decorating fir cones to hang on the Christmas tree.

We need to have any outstanding Registration forms returned as soon as possible.

Week commencing – Monday 20th November 2017

This week we will be concentrating on Road safety week and physically role playing crossing the road safely; as well as keeping ourselves safe.

Please could we have all completed Registration forms back by Thursday 23rd November.

Could we ask parents/carers to name all their childrens’ items when they attend nursery e.g coat, bags, boots, drinking bottles and lunch bags.
This really helps us out at times like trying to send the children home.

Week commencingMonday 13th November 2017

This week we will discuss Remembrance day and why we wear poppies.
On Monday we will be painting poppies to take home.
TuesdayWednesday and Thursday we will talking about Children in Need.
There will be a large Pudsey head where we will be collecting pennies to donate to the cause.
There will also be opportunities to make Pudsey headbands.

Please could we remind parents to send back their completed registration forms.
If parents/carers are interested in extra sessions for the Spring term could you please let us know.
If parents wish to donate to the Food bank and the Christmas hamper there will be separate boxes in which to place your items.

Week Commencing Monday 6th November 2017

This week we will be celebrating Bonfire night,  we will be making fire work pictures and model rockets. Talking about how important it is to keep safe at this time of year and thinking about our pets and other animals.

Our two recent Halloween fund raising events raised £487.

and of course to all the families who supported them and helped raise such an amazing amount.

This week we will be celebrating the festival of lights Diwali.

We will giving the children the opportunity to explore painted flour picture prints. Colouring Rangoli pictures and making Diwali tealight lamps.

This week we will be making pumpkin faces and decorating them with shapes.
There will be lots of talk around real pumpkins and squashes and what we use them for.
Our books will be related to the approach of Halloween e.g. Pumpkin soup and Winnie witch.

Week commencingMonday 2nd October 2017

This week we will be doing hand and leaf prints to add to our Autumn display.
The children will have an opportunity to play and manipulate conkers in our builders tray, with a  range of natural materials and woodland animals.

Please could we remind parents to bring in a named waterproof coat for their child/children. As the weather changes we will continue to access the outside as much as possible and the children will need to dresses accordingly, thank you.


Week commencingMonday 25th September 2017

As we  continue our Autumn theme, this week we will be continuing to look at winter vegetables’; cutting them open to investigate the inside and using some for vegetable printing.

There will be a builders work shop outside this week and this interest has come from the childrens’ views.

We would like to thank everyone who attended our yearly AGM, as this is a very important meeting for our nursery. We all look forward to the forth coming academic year and pushing the nursery forward together as a team.


Week commencing – Monday 18th September 2017

This week our theme is  the arrival of Autumn. We will be introducing a fruit and vegetable shop into our home corner, and there will be lots of discussions on what we could make from these such as soups and puddings; this interest has come from the children.

Please could we remind parents/carers to label their child’s name on their items that are bought into nursery e.g. coats, wellies, drinking bottles, lunch bags and back packs; thank you, this makes our job a lot easier.

We can’t believe this is our last week before the summer holidays.
This week we will be making Jellyfish.

Wednesday Afternoon  weather permitting it will be Sport’s Day @ 12.30 pm.
We will start with our picnic and races due to begin at 1:00 pm.
There will be a raffle done by our committee and ice-lollies on sale at the end (50p each).

We would like to welcome Amy, another student joining us this week.
Isabel is still with us but Lara has returned to school, our thanks go to her.


Week commencing – Monday 10th July

This week we will be practising for our Sports Day ready for next week (19th July)

Outdoor play will include Den building and acting out the story of ….
“We’re going on a bear hunt”. We will also have the mud kitchen in full flow.

All children had their transistion afternoons and had a very welcoming and productive afternoon with Mrs Mallett and her team.
Please don’t forget this Wednesday afternoon you are all going again.


Week commencing –  Monday 3rd July 2017

Today we would all like to welcome Christine our new manager to the nursery.

Our theme this week is Goldilocks and the three bears.
We will be making bear masks and puppets in the afternoon with the puppet theatre out
so the children can re-tell the story.

Our older children are off to school on Monday and Thursday afternoons.
On Monday Kirsty will be going with them and Thursday Sue will.
This is to help all of the children have a smooth transition.

If we have any sunshine this week please remember to suncream your child before they start and bring along a hat.

We have re-arranged Sports Day for Wednesday 19th July.


Week commencing – Monday 26th June 2017

This week our theme will be Teddies and Sports Day. We will be painting teddies, playing teddy orientated  board games and enjoying teddy stories, and of course practising our races.

Wednesday is Sports day so please remember to wear your running shoes, bring your teddy and of course your picnic. Don’t forget there will be a raffle and ice lollies on sale. We will be having a visit from our new manager Mrs Christine Long who is due to join the Nursery on Monday 3rd July.


Week commencing – Monday 19th June 2017

This week we will be continuing with the “Gingerbread Man”.
We will be making one and hoping he doesn’t run, run, run as fast as he can out of the oven!
Also we are practising our races ready for Sports Day.
Don’t forget to apply sun cream to your child before arriving at nursery in the mornings!

If you wish to place an order for Tea-towels etc please can you do this by Thursday!

Also this week we will be having  visits from new children for September and on Wednesday morning Mrs. Mallett will be visiting the children transitioning into school in September.

This week we will be practising for Sports Day,
so could you make sure your child has sensible foot wear on please.
We will be making something for Father’s Day
and continuing with our traditional tales with the “Gingerbread Man”.

Also, I (Sue) will be asking everyone staying in September what sessions you would like your child to do. So please have a think before you come in.


Week commencing – Monday 5th June 2017

Welcome back to a busy last half term for some. This week we are continuing our fairy tale theme with “The Three Billy Goats Gruff” where we will be looking at sizes.
With the good weather continuing could you please put suncream on your child in the morning and we will do them again at lunchtime. Could they also come with a hat and a water bottle. If you could provide your child with some spare clothes for water play it would be good as our supply is very limited.

This week as a part of our science and investigation theme we will be doing ….
“Jack & The Beanstalk”. We will be looking at runner beans and growing some ourselves.

On Monday we have 2 students coming from Reepham College to do an activity with the children.
Each morning this week we will be welcoming new children and parents for an introduction to nursery. They will be joining us after Easter.

The children will have a choice at doing the life cycle of a frog or butterfly
and we will be starting our Spring board working together in small groups

Lots of children are interested in numbers and mark making at the moment and we will be thinking of lots of different ways we can support this learning over the next few weeks.

This week we are looking at the Chinese New Year. This year it is the year of the Rooster.
We will be food tasting at snack times with spring rolls, sesame toast and prawn crackers.
Please tell a member of staff if your child cannot eat any of these!

We would like to welcome our new starters this week Molly and Harley.
This week  we will be looking at melting and then returning to a solid.
We will be making white rice crispy cakes in the morning session and
in the afternoon our activity is making a frosty tree.

This is out last week at nursery before the Christmas Holidays.
We will be continuing with the holiday theme.
Our FUNfORCE Christmas Party will be on Tuesday 13th December between 12:30 & 2:45 pm. We  will be providing lunch for the children and are hoping to have a visit from Santa!

Children can take these home with them and also to the festival if they go.

The Children have been learning about where food comes from.

We have been making apple crumble and getting messy with table top printing.
